Approximately 140 activists from Extinction Rebellion Finland blocked the major city street Mannerheimintie in front of the Finnish Parliament building overnight last night. The peaceful demonstration began at 1PM yesterday with activists blocking the street with image-banners and signs, demanding urgent climate action.

The energy company Fortum’s stalling of climate action is shameful to Finland. With its majority ownership of Fortum, the Finnish state has the greatest responsibility for the company’s actions. The Fortum leadership should not be dischanged from responsibility at the company general meeting today.

Elokapina held a panel discussion about news coverage of climate crisis on Monday 12.4. The event was a continuum of the #kirjoitakriisistä (write about the crisis) campaign, that calls responsibility in the media in regards to the climate crisis and its news coverage.
